Today I traveled to Middleton Tyas just outside of Darlington to attend a fault finding task at a domestic property.
The customer explained that the power had been intermittently tripping off over the weekend which was 4 days ago. The RCD wouldn’t stay up for a whole day then with no signs or noticeable change it stayed in the on position.
When the customer first told me this I advised I still attend as from experience felt it would most likely re-appear at some point.
On arrival I tested the circuit with every appliance unplugged and still had a fault in place, this tells me that it’s most likely to be either a wiring or accessory issue.
I eventually pinpointed the fault to an outdoor junction box which had filled with water due to the recent heavy rain we’ve experienced.
A simple re-termination and a few drain holes in the box and we’re good to go again.
