Just on an Electrical Safety check today and we are checking the earths at the gas meter.

So we can see the earth to the gas meter but I can't see the fuse board where it is supposed to go back but as you can see, as I pull on it it comes straight out of the wall.

Someone has just made it look like the earth was connected!

This is why these electrical safety checks are so important!

Here’s an image from a recent EICR we completed at a bungalow in Stapleton just outside Darlington.

The property previously had insulation pumped into the cavity and as the cable entry’s weren’t sealed the polystyrene balls were able to enter.

This poses a potential fire risk should there be any loose connections and in turn overeating.

Before leaving hoovered all the excess out and fire foamed the holes.

What is an EICR?

Electrical installation condition reports commonly known as an EICR is an in-depth inspection of your properties electrical systems and installation including electrical outlets, wiring and consumer units also reporting on any potential safety issues. One of the main causes of electrical fires in the home is faulty and or old wiring.

In general, your electrician will check that:
